This is a great technique to solidify walls protecting the stone and giving a great finish to apply both active and passive lime paints to.

the wall was badly pointed and washed out
Here you can see a section of the wall that needed rebuilding.
Again you can see the rough cast cement surrounds around the windows.
As you can see the walls were quite well washed out and loose. Almost a tone extra sand was needed to fill the holes.
There was no stone around the windows. We had to carve the block to give a better look. The desired effect is that of granite under the ragging.
Here you can see the finish with almost none of the stone visible .

Protecting the lime is paramount to allow it to slowly cure
Its a mucky job but Scotty was the man to take up the challenge.
A good covering is needed to protect the lime from wind and sun and ambient temperature is achieved with a covering for around 5 days with damp Hessian .In very cold or hot weather this might need to be left up for a little longer
You can still see the lime going off in a few places.
Here you can see the finished lime job. A lick of paint and the house is transformed.
