Lime is the traditional binder used in historic buildings across Cornwall. Unlike modern cement, lime mortars and renders remain breathable, allowing moisture to evaporate from solid walls instead of trapping it.
We use lime for pointing, rendering, plastering, bag rub finishes and hydrophobic mineral coatings so older granite, cob and stone buildings can dry out and stay healthy — without losing their character.
Cornish Lime Builders work closely with building control and conservation officers to specify sympathetic materials and methods for each structure.
